Rainer Hörig, Mitglied der Adivasi-Koordination, lebt und arbeitet seit Ende der 1980er Jahre in Indien. Für seine Reportagen und Features unternimmt er häufig eigene Recherchen im Land. Eine Reise nach Jharkhand – Fotoreportage von Rainer Hörig
Zum Ende der Regenzeit im Oktober 2006 konnte ich zwei Wochen lang den Adivasi-Staat Jharkhand besuchen. Ich lernte Dörfer in den Distrikten Deoghar und Ranchi kennen und sprach mit vielen Menschen über ihr Leben und ihre Sorgen. Obwohl ich Indien seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren kenne, war ich von der Armut der Dorfbewohner erschüttert.
I am a Canadian photographer who works exclusively with the Adivasis of India.I have a compound in Chhotanagpur, Jharkhand. From this locale I conduct expeditions all over Tribal India.I also have formed a Medical Care Team which provides operations for the local Tribals (mostly Mundas and Oraons).I will be showing my latest work in NYC this October at the John Stevenson Gallery…Called „Baigas“(this year’s work with the Baigas in Kawardha,Chhatisgarh.) November, I will be exhibiting photographs in Toronto and Zurich of the Marias Murias,Hos,Birhors, Santhals, Ghonds, Ratwas and Baigas. I also have work bases in NYC and Lisbon for production /publishing and gallery work.
